Edward D. Lynton (b 1912) was a mining engineer and geologist in Mexico and Arizona from 1915-1920. From 1920-1943 he was employed by Standard Oil of California as a field geologist in California and Texas, conducting magnetometer surveys and petroleum prospecting. From 1943-1944 he worked for the North African Economic Board to help develop oil and mining companies. Lynton served as a petroleum consultant to the Institute of Petroleum in Paris from 1946-1948.
